Exam Protocols — Instructions and Features

Help / Learning Center / Exam Protocols

In our exam protocols, you will find 63 real experience reports from Fachsprachprüfung and Kenntnisprüfung exams across ten Federal States. Each protocol details which cases, which Questions, and which Procedure were actually tested on-site — so you know exactly what to expect.

What are exam protocols?

Exam protocols are personal experience reports from Doctors who have already taken their Fachsprachprüfung or Kenntnisprüfung. They describe the case they were assigned, the examiners’ Questions, the exam Procedure, and often what went well or what they would do differently next time. For you, these reports are one of the most valuable sources of information available — because they show the exam as it actually happens, not as it is described in a textbook.

At Kennti, you will find a total of 63 protocols: 30 FSP protocols, 30 KP protocols, and 3 older original reports that form the core of our collection. The reports cover ten Federal States — Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Berlin, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg, Hamburg, Saxony, and Schleswig-Holstein.

You can filter the protocols by exam type (FSP or KP), by Federal State, and by medical specialty. This allows you to find the reports most relevant to your own exam in just a few clicks.

Step-by-step: How to use the exam protocols

  1. Open Archive: Start at /pruefungsprotokolle/. There you will see all 63 reports in chronological order.
  2. Select exam type: Click on the FSP or KP filter, depending on what you are preparing for.
  3. Narrow down by Federal State: Select your exam’s Federal State — the case selection and Procedure vary significantly depending on the medical association.
  4. Filter by specialty: If you suspect a specific specialty might appear in your exam, use the specialty filter to read relevant protocols specifically.
  5. Identify patterns: Read several reports from the same Federal State — you will quickly see which cases and Questions recur frequently.
  6. Share your own protocol: After your exam: Submit your own protocol via the form on the Archive page and help others.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Read protocols from your Federal State first: Exam focuses differ significantly between Bavaria, NRW, Berlin, and others. Focus on your location.
  • Combine with the FSP Simulator: Take a protocol, find the matching case in the FSP Simulator, and practice it. This way, you combine a real report with active practice.
  • Note recurring Questions: Keep a notebook of examiner Questions that appear in multiple protocols — these are particularly likely to occur.
  • Pay attention to disclaimers: Sample protocols are clearly marked. They show you the format but do not replace real experience reports.
  • Give something back: The collection thrives on every new generation sharing their experiences. Your protocol could save another colleague’s exam.
