Flashcards — Instructions and Features

Help / Learning Center / Flashcards

Kennti flashcards are your scientifically-based tool for retaining medical knowledge in the long term. 2,460 bilingual cards, spread across 13 medical fields, are shown to you using the FSRS algorithm exactly when you are at risk of forgetting them — mobile optimized and always with you.

What are the flashcards?

Flashcards are one of the best-researched learning tools available. At Kennti, we combine this proven method with a modern spaced repetition algorithm — the Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler (FSRS). FSRS is open source and scientifically validated: it calculates the optimal time for the next repetition for each card individually, ensuring that you retain maximum knowledge with minimal time investment.

Our collection includes 2,460 cards across 13 medical fields — including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, and many more. Each card is bilingual: German and Arabic. This makes the flashcards particularly valuable for Arabic-speaking doctors who want to build their German medical terminology while remaining confident in their native language.

The entire system is mobile optimized — you can go through a few cards in the waiting room, on the subway, or during your lunch break. Short, frequent learning sessions are the key to long-term memory.

Key Features

2,460 cards

An extensive, curated collection covering central medical topics — not put together at random, but tailored to exam-relevance.

13 medical fields

Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, and more — you can focus your learning by specific field.

Bilingual: DE + AR

Each card contains both languages. This allows you to directly link German medical terms with Arabic concepts.

FSRS algorithm

Scientifically validated spaced repetition algorithm (open source) — the current gold standard for efficient learning.

Mobile Optimized

Ideal for on the go — use waiting periods, commutes, and short breaks productively.

Progress saved

Your learning progress is preserved with a login. The algorithm learns with you and becomes increasingly precise.

Step-by-step: How to use the flashcards

  1. Log in: Sign in with your Kennti account. Your progress cannot be saved without a login.
  2. Open tool: Go to /flashcards/. You will see your personal dashboard with the cards due today.
  3. Select medical field: Start either with all cards or choose a specific field — for example, Internal Medicine, if you have the greatest need to catch up there.
  4. Study card: Read the question, think about it, flip the card, and honestly rate how well you knew it. The algorithm will schedule the next repetition.
  5. Continue learning daily: Every day, the system shows you the cards that are due. 15–20 minutes a day is perfectly sufficient — consistency is better than length.
  6. Check statistics: Monitor your progress over the weeks. You will see your retention rate increase.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Rate honestly: FSRS only works if you do not sugarcoat your self-assessment. “Almost knew it” is not “knew it.”
  • Daily consistency beats marathon sessions: Ten minutes per day over six weeks will benefit you more than three weekends of four hours each.
  • Combine with the FSP dictionary: If a card contains an unknown medical term, look it up in the dictionary.
  • Use the bilingual display consciously: Read the German first, then the Arabic — this builds both language connections simultaneously.
  • Learn offline on your phone: Once the app interface has loaded, it usually works well even without a stable connection — make use of those minutes on the subway.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is FSRS and why do you use it?
FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) is a scientifically validated open-source algorithm that calculates the repetition intervals for each card individually. Compared to classic Anki-SM-2, FSRS provides more precise predictions for many datasets and reduces the number of unnecessary repetitions.
Why are the cards bilingual?
Many of our users are Arabic-speaking doctors who are learning German at the same time. The bilingual display helps you firmly anchor new medical terms in your existing knowledge — rather than cramming them in isolation.
Do I need an account?
Yes, a login is required to save your progress. FSRS needs to know when you last saw a card and how well you mastered it — the system requires your profile for this.
How much time should I plan for daily?
15 to 20 minutes a day is a good guideline. On some days the algorithm will show you fewer cards, on others more — it is worth checking in briefly every day.
Can I create my own cards?
Currently, the card library is curated. If you feel important cards are missing, feel free to write to us — topic suggestions are incorporated into future expansions.
